Barrie
Barrie has a number of street metered parking spots. It is an offence to park in a spot longer than the meter permits. Look for meters with blue tops for short-stay parking or use the pay-all-day lots. Parking will be free in downtown Barrie the two weeks prior to Christmas.
Parking is allowed overnight on all city streets from May - October 17. To enable snow removal, you cannot park on the streets between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Orillia
The City of Orillia offers approximately 800 metered parking spaces available in the downtown core. The cost for metered parking is $.50 per hour, though the maximum length of stay at meters varies (watch for signs). You can typically park for an hour at on-street meters or for three hours in metered parking lots.
On-street parking is allowed on many streets throughout the City of Orillia, but you need to pay attention to posted parking signs for any applicable restrictions. Overnight parking is prohibited on all City streets and lots in the winter months (from November 1 to May 1) between 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., to allow for snow removal.
You cannot stop, stand or park a vehicle in a designated fire route zone. Watch for signs that designate fire routes in public and private parking lots.
You cannot stop, stand or park a vehicle in a designated disabled persons parking space unless your vehicle has an approved Ministry of Transportation disabled persons permit. The set fine for parking in a marked disabled person spot without the permit is $350.
